With the hotel sat on the wooded banks of the river Fowey we have stunning views from our hotel windows and all it takes is a glance out of one to remember how sweet life is here in Cornwall.

It's not just the views that provide cheer either, as we see an abundance of wildlife which reminds us how close to nature the Cormorant really is.

Yesterday afternoon we were given the perfect reminder of that.

On a gloomy afternoon in late November a glance out of one of our windows yielded the most wonderful sights, which would be a delight for any wildlife enthusiast.

While the seal frolicked among the moorings in Golant harbour two herons stood fishing in the shallows before taking to the air and flying away to join a cormorant crossing the grey skies. The busy skies were also home to a pair of low flying mallards, an egret and a flight of around 20 terns which were headed down river to meet the incoming tide and the food headed up river with it.

Those sights provide just a snapshot of the sort of thing visible from the Cormorant on more or less any day of the year, a point proven by the fact the seal has now been spotted from the hotel on three consecutive days.

While we love seeing those sights and experiencing nature here in Cornwall, we aren't selfish and love to share it.

We know many of our visitors love nature and get a real kick from seeing it up close and personal, so why not head south this winter to see the abundant wildlife which calls the river Fowey home for yourself?

Whether you simply fancy getting away from it all, want a meal in our award-winning restaurant spent gazing out of the window or are a nature loving couple looking to tie the knot, we can offer a short break, lunch or dinner, or a fabulous wedding reception at the most intimate wedding venues in Fowey.

Whatever you want from your break at the Cormorant we can accommodate you, while nature will provide entertainment!
