What's On: Spring Garden Break

When? Throughout March

Trebah Garden

Running throughout March here at the Cormorant Hotel, we have a fantastic offer for anyone looking to take a spring break. We're offering a 3 night stay including breakfast and dinner, with tickets to two of Cornwall's best Spring Gardens.

The gardens in question are Caerhays Castle Garden, Trewithen Gardens, Hidden Valley Gardens, Pinetum Park and Trebah Gardens.

What's On: Auction at Jeffery's Auction House

When? Wednesday 11th March 2015, 9:00am

Where? Jeffery's Auction Rooms


Based in Lostwithiel and the filming location of a recent Flog it episode, Jeffery's Auction Rooms are hosting an auction of antique and modern furniture and effects. Viewing is open a day prior to the sale between 10m - 1pm and 2pm - 5.15pm. The sale will commence on the day of the 11th at 10am sharp.

What's On: A Wildlife Behind the Lens - Tales of a Wildlife Cameraman

When? Tuesday 17th March at 7.30pm

Where? Church Rooms, Lostwithiel

Mark Yates

Wildlife Cameraman Mark Yates will be hosting an evening showcasing some of his adventures that he has experienced from behind a camera.

Mark has filmed for Disney, David Attenborough and a host of BBC series' such as Springwatch and Autumnwatch.

What's On: Fowey Harbour Heritage Society Cornish Emigration Talk

When? Saturday 21st March at 7.30pm

Where? Fowey Parish Hall

Fowey Harbour

Philip Payton, formally of the University of Exeter where he was the Director of the Institute of Cornish studies, will be hosting a talk which will take you back to 19th Century Fowey. During the 19th Century, Fowey witnessed many emigrants leaving through port town.

This was part of the upsurge of Cornishmen and women who left to head for South Africa, Australia and North and South America.

What's On: 12th Annual Lostwithiel Charity Beer Festival

When? Saturday 21st March 2015, 11:00am to 11:00pm

Where? Lostwithiel Community Centre


One of Cornwall's best (little) beer festivals is having its 12th annual festival on the 21st March. Beer is priced at £2.50 per pint and £1.30 per half pint, with wine at £2.50 per glass.

Food is being provided by the community centre in the shape snack meals.

In the afternoon, there is the chance to watch the 6 Nations Rugby, with three matches occurring:

  • 12:30pm Italy v Wales

  • 2:30pm Scotland v Ireland

  • 5:00pm England v France

Live entertainment will be performing in the evening, and everyone in attendance will receive a commemorative pint glass.

What's On: The Cornwall Spring Flower Show

When? Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March

Where? Boconnoc House and Gardens, Lostwithiel


The Cornwall Spring Flower Show is one of the earliest in the gardening calendar, and is organised by the Cornwall Garden Society. The centrepiece of the show is the display, which include camellias, ornamental shrubs and daffodils, amongst others.  Complete with over 100 trade stands, gardening experts to answer questions and show gardens to see, there is plenty to see and do over the weekend.

The show runs from 10am until 5pm on Saturday 28th, and 10am until 4pm on Sunday 29th.
