Volunteer clean-up leaves estuary "immaculate"

Two dozen kayakers spent time on the water near luxury hotels in Cornwall this week picking old cans, bottles and fishing line out of the water.
Once the work was done the estuary looked immaculate, according to David Johns, who helped organise the clean-up as a member of the Friends of Fowey Estuary.
He said there hadn't been much to collect since the estuary was already very clean, but that now it was even cleaner.
"People tend not to drop litter in areas which are pristine," he said, "whereas if there is already litter lying around people do add to it.
"So with nothing there at the moment there shouldn't be any more added.
"This is the third year we've done a clean-up and every year there's less rubbish."
