Cornwall has lots of things to attract people, from the beaches, activities, pretty scenery and great food. There are also loads of towns and villages that are great to wander around in and fun, quirky shops you can find a treasure or trinket to remember your time in Cornwall. If you are planning on doing a spot of shopping when you visit Cornwall and stay at our boutique hotel, then these are the top destinations to check out.

Someone shopping in Cornwall

On the doorstep of our boutique hotel is the harbour town of Fowey, which is a fantastic place for independent shops. There are few chain stores in the town, with a great focus on independently owned, boutique shops for clothes. The literary connections to Fowey also mean there are some great bookshops in the town, where you are sure to find some literary treasures. Take a look at our guide to Fowey to find out about the clothes shops, galleries, gift shops and more you can find in the town.

Truro is Cornwall’s only city, boasting an impressive cathedral, and is the county’s central shopping hub. The pedestrian centre has many major high street stores and chains, but mixed in are some independent shops, hidden down narrow back streets that are well worth seeking out. Truro also has well-stocked charity shops if you like charity shopping for great clothes at reasonable prices.

Falmouth is the trendy, energetic centre of Cornwall, due to its university and strong student presence. There are plenty of cool outdoorsy shops, and lots of home-grown Cornish shops too. The window displays in Falmouth all have an arty feel to them, and if you have a keen eye for seeking out unusual places, you will find the town has many attractive and quirky cafes, bars and eateries.

St Ives

St Ives is a town that inspires creative minds, and if you are looking for a piece of art to hang at home or want to make something to take home with you, then you are sure to find it in St Ives. The town has many craft shops, art galleries, independent jewellery and pottery shops. Best of all, the shops have a seaside-vibe to them, and the beach is right around the corner!

Penzance is the centre for the Land’s End peninsula and a market town. The selection of historic pubs, independent shops and national outlets make Penzance a lovely place to spend a day shopping, and the nearby attractions of St Michael’s Mount are worth visiting too. Several of the shops in Penzance has a boho, hippie style – perfectly in balance with the laid-back atmosphere Cornwall has in the summer! After a day out shopping in one of Cornwall’s top shopping destinations, head back to our restaurant in Fowey for some award-winning food. Overlooking the River Fowey, the restaurant serves up the very best Cornish produce and combines with superb service, it is the best place to relax and under wind after a day out.
