Television crews head to South East Cornwall to film new BBC series
Written by The Cormorant Hotel
The ten episode series is titled "The Coroner", and will appear on our television screens earlier next year. The series will follow a solicitor who returns to a seaside town she used as an escape in her teenage years, known as Lighthaven.
Although The Coroner has been mainly filmed in the South Hams of Devon, the crew frequently travelled to Saltash to film scenes in a pub, which will act as the local for the village of Lighthaven and their patrons. There were also a number of scenes shot at Gribbin Head, which is just a short distance from our Fowey hotel.
Lead actress Claire Goose, who has previously appeared in Casualty and Waking the Dead, has stated that she has fallen in love with Cornwall, thanks to its breath-taking coastal views. She is being joined onscreen by Beatie Edney, who is more than familiar with Cornwall after portraying Prudie Paynter in the hugely successful Poldark.
She has addressed her return to Cornwall by saying that she is very "spoilt" to be coming back, and that it does not feel like work when she visits the area.
If you would like to see why Cornwall is such a favourite for filming locations, and admired so much by those starring in the series, why not book a room at the Cormorant Hotel and see for yourself?
