explore Poldark country when staying at our Golant hotel

Fans of Cornwall set show Poldark are getting the chance to meet the stars at an exclusive screening in St Austell, near our Golant hotel. BBC One announced that there will be a screening of the first episode of the second series of the show on Sunday, September 4.

The White River Cinema in St Austell will welcome the cast of Poldark and a limited number of fans will be able to go along and attend the screening as well.

The attending cast includes the leading star Aidan Turner who portrays Ross Poldark, Eleanor Tomlinson who plays his love interest Demelza and Jack Farthing who plays George Warleggan. Writer Debbie Horsfield and producers Damien Timmer and Karen Thrussell will also be attending the premiere.

Head of BBC South West, Leo Devine, said: “It's fantastic news that the new series of Poldark will be screened in Cornwall before it makes its national debut on BBC One. Cornwall offers the most beautiful backdrop to this epic drama and I am looking forward to celebrating the return of the second series with the people of St Austell – this really is a golden ticket event!â€

The limited tickets available to fans were sold out within days, though with a red carpet event there is still a chance to meet the stars before the event starts at 6pm.

Poldark became a huge hit with audiences last year and has become a major tourist appeal for Cornwall, where the series is set and filmed. Fans of the show, when staying at our Golant hotel, are able to explore the various places used in the filming, many of them close by to the hotel.

Charlestown and Bodmin Moor are two places we recommend visiting, and the beautiful countryside scenery will make you fall in love with this stunning county as much as the characters did on screen.
