A new festival is set to come to Fowey this summer, with the introduction of the Big Gig!

The first ever Fowey Big Gig and BBQ Weekend will take place on the weekend of June 19, 20 and 21 and should see people flocking to enjoy a party atmosphere in the town.

The festival will be a celebration of food with fresh local produce to the fore and will also feature top bands and local musicians.Bunting Festival Party Gig Live Music | Food Barbecue Summer Mussels Seafood Delicious Produce | The Cormorant Hotel & Restaurant Fowey Golant Cornwall

The event is being organised by the Fowey Chamber of Commerce and Chairman Mic Redmond said he is already looking forward to it.

"The festival isn't just about showing off Fowey's food and the music scene," he said. "It's also about promoting the hundreds of other fantastic things Fowey and the surrounding area has to offer.

With the festival set to take place in the height of summer hotels near Fowey are likely to be packed, just as the town's quay will be. That's because Town Quay is the venue which will host dozens upon dozens of stalls from food producers and local traders.

The festival is taking place in lieu of the Fowey Mussel Fest, which our fantastic head chef Dane Watkins usually appears at. However, the fact the Mussel Fest isn't taking place this year doesn't mean there won't be dozens of tasty local mussels to get stuck into!
