Lostwithiel Dickensian Evening Christmas Festive Events Charles Dickens Chestnuts Mulled Wine Cider Mince Pies Markets Craft Stalls | Lantern Parade Town Band Marching Procession Fun Xmas Special Occasion Traditional Duchy | The Cormorant Hotel & Restaurant Golant FoweyThe nearby town of Lostwithiel is set to host a Dickensian extravaganza this Christmas.

The town hosts its Dickensian Evening every year and it always proves a popular event - with this year expected to be no different.

Thursday, December 11, is the date for this year's evening and despite the cold, the dark, and possibly the rain, it promises to be fantastic.

Lostwithiel is lit up each and every year for the last ten years when the Dickensian evening rolls around, with the streets filled with crowds eager come to enjoy anĀ old fashioned traditional Christmas experience.

The whole town is lit by hanging lanterns which burn brightly and the evening gets under way with a lantern parade led by the Lostwithiel Town Band, who march up and down Fore Street. Several groups from the town, including Young Farmers, Brownies, guides and Scouts parade lanterns they've made while shops in the town centre stay open late for visitors.

Not only to the shops stay open late but the shopkeepers also dress up in traditional Dickensian era clothing - as do many of the visitors to the town.

There's live music in the town's pubs and on the streets all night long with people singing carols and festive tunes while there are also craft stalls and a small market to visit.

There's fun for children too, with a few traditional fairground rides around and a traditional Santa's grotto.

The best part of the evening though, are the festive refreshments on offer - mulled wine and cider, roasted chestnuts and mince pies!

So if you're staying at luxury Hotels in Cornwall this December why not head to Lostwithiel for a fun and authentic festive experience.
