It's that time of year again! The biggest event in Fowey is just around the corner, with the Fowey Regatta starting on the 16th August. As always, there is a packed calendar, which we have taken a look at in a bit more detail for you below:
As mentioned above, the Fowey Regatta starts on the Sunday 16th August, and runs until Saturday 22nd August. Each day is jam-packed with activities to take part in, whatever the weather!
The whole of Fowey becomes a stage for the week, ranging from the town hall to the town quay! Make sure to keep an eye on the River Fowey, as this will play a large part in the festivities with boats arriving throughout the week.
There is so much to do throughout the week, with live music entertainment every night, observed by festival-goers. Monday night ends with a bang, as you can witness the first firework display of the week, with colours erupting over the River Fowey.
Tuesday sees more action on the water, with raft and swimming races taking place throughout the day, and an appearance from Newquay Zoo, who are in attendance with a variety of animals.
Wednesday's Carnival procession is always a favourite amongst those who attend, with a full procession going through the whole village. The carnival theme this year is "That's All Folks" cartoons, so expect the weird and wonderful!
Thursday will see the return of the Red Arrows, whose spectacular aerial displays never fail to wow onlookers. There will also be an appearance from the giant pasty on the King of Prussia steps, so keep an eye out for that (as if you can miss it!)
The end of the week is as equally packed as the beginning, and will be rounded off wonderfully with another firework display which is arguably more grand that the first!
With all of this, and more happening so close to our Fowey hotel and restaurant, it is bound to be another amazing year! More information and the full schedule for this year can be found at: www.foweyroyalregatta.co.uk.
