Written by The Cormorant Hotel
The late May Bank Holiday is just around the corner and it is the perfect time to stay at our hotel in Cornwall. The bluebells are still blooming in woodlands, the beaches are not yet crowded with summer tourists and the trees are blossoming and turning green.
There is always a lot to do, but why not make this Bank Holiday special, and find some unique, hidden gems in the Cornish countryside:
Find a hidden beach or cove
Cornwall is famous for the beautiful beaches dotted along the coast. The stretch of coast near our hotel in Cornwall has some perfect secluded beaches and coves to visit. Lantic Bay is a 20-minute walk off the beaten track and sheltered in a cove about a mile from Fowey. Boasting white sands, the bay traps the sun, making the beach a cosy picture-perfect getaway destination.
Try some delicious food
There are lots of delicious food treats to try in Cornwall, from the famous cream tea, pasties and more. But you don't need to go far for some delightful food, as our restaurant has just started its summer menu. With fresh, local and seasonal meals, you will be spoilt for choice every night when dining at our hotel in Cornwall.
Take a scenic drive
As the weather warms up, get out the sunglasses, roll the windows down and take a scenic drive through the beautiful Cornish countryside. Bodmin Moor is not far from Fowey and our hotel, making it the perfect destination for a drive along the country roads, where you can see the stunning wildlife and nature across the moors.
Go for a wild swim
As the warm weather hits, there is no better way to cool down than a dip in a pool or lake. There are places along the coast, little inlets on rivers, and other secret places you can go for an open air swim. Not far from Fowey is Lansallos Cove which you can find following a smugglers path through granite rocks. You can also head to Bodmin Moor and take a dip in the crystal clear water at Goldiggins Quarry.
Enjoy a walk in the wild
The South West Coastal Paths travels the whole way around the Cornish coast, and when you're staying at our hotel in Cornwall this Bank Holiday you can just step out the door onto the route. Whether you follow the route exactly or take detours you will always have breath-taking views of the sea, cliffs and rolling hills.
