Fowey Retired Lifeboat Parade | RNLI National Armed Forces Day | The Cormorant Hotel GolantAny non-swimmers who fancy learning to swim on their own and at sea could have chosen a worse time and place to do so than in Fowey this weekend.

That's because the town's harbour was full with dozens of lifeboats, in town for an annual RNLI ex-lifeboat rally.

The boats flocked together just a few miles down the River Fowey from The Cormorant hotel, one of the best boutique hotels in Cornwall.

The event took place for the 18th time this past weekend and yet again proved a hit, providing entertainment for hundreds who packed the quay to watch the lifeboats parade down the river.

As well as being able to watch the lifeboats in action from the safety of dry land visitors to the event were also able to look around the retired lifeboats and meet the dozens of owners who have put in hours of hard work to restored them to their former glory.

The boats, moored at Berrill's Yard pontoon all through Saturday, put to sea in the evening for the parade, which coincided with National Armed Forces Day.
