Fowey Christmas Xmas Markets Cornwall Shopping Gifts Presents Luxury Traditional | Santa Claus Father Christmas Breaks In The Duchy Win Free Stay Hotel Luxury Accommodation Competition | The Cormorant Hotel & Restaurant Golant The famous Fowey Christmas markets bought joy to the streets of the town this past weekend, as thousands of people visited to but festive treats.

The markets got under way on Friday evening, with visitors to boutique hotels in Cornwall among the thousands who took part in carol singing at Berrils Yard with the Fowey Town Band.

There were screams of delight from children as Father Christmas arrived in Fowey by boat from Polruan, before leading the Fowey Town Band and Fowey Academy Samba Band through the town to St Fimbarrus Church.

The crowds then watched on as the Christmas lights were switched on before yet more carol singing took place to celebrate the official start of the festive season in Fowey.

Over the course of the weekend even more people then flocked to Fowey to buy Christmas gifts and local delicacies from the stall holders at the Fowey market's two locations, on Town Quay and at the leisure centre.

With a wealth of traditional Cornish traders offering all kinds of gifts, art and craft as well as delicious local food and drink at the market, and Fowey's eclectic range of shops, quality eateries, boutiques and art galleries, there really was something for everyone.

While Santa's grotto proved a hit with many of the younger visitors to the town it was the entertainers and performers who were most popular with the older crowd.
