Entire beach near Fowey for sale for less than a London flat
Written by The Cormorant Hotel
The current owners of Polkerris beach have put it on the market for a cool £250,000, as they plan to focus on other ventures. The beautiful beach sees around 40,000 visitors, has its own watersports centre, and offers safe bathing in the sea, which is ideal for families.
The Shillito family have run the business for the last seven years, which features beach trading rights, a café, beach shop and the RYA Watersports Centre. The watersports business is based in an old pilchard factory situated on the beach, and is being sold with eight years remaining on the lease.
The beach has been described as a great business venture, as there is such a vast range of responsibilities that have to be performed on a daily basis. Bob Shillito stated he loved the diversity of his working day, and that he could start the day scooping ice cream and end it by awarding sailing certificates.
Many people have been taught to sail, and even operate powerboats thanks to the watersports centre. There have even been impromptu speed competitions held for windsurfers, further adding to the diversity of the beach.
Fowey River Estate Agents are handling the sale of the beach, which is located just two miles from our hotel in Fowey, Cornwall. They have described this as a very rare business opportunity which doesn't come around too often, and anyone looking to make the purchase should know it has an "exceptional reputation in an idyllic location."
