Eden Project's Perfume Garden provides delightful smells of summer
Written by The Cormorant Hotel
Last month, the Eden Project opened its new Perfume Garden, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful smells of summer in a sunny spot of the Mediterranean Biome. Close to our boutique hotel in Fowey, the Perfume Garden is one of the new planting projects celebrating the Project's 15 years of opening.
You can find the garden near the entrance to the biome in a terracotta-tiled courtyard. A range of potted plants and herbs are there for visitors to touch and smell as they walk through. The garden will be a source of seasonal smells throughout the year too, so no matter what time you visit, the Perfume Garden will be bringing you exotic scents all year round.
The garden also includes some well-placed seating, so as you wander through the biomes, you can sit and enjoy the delectable fragrances the Perfume Garden has.
The scents you can expect on a visit this summer to the Project, which is just 20 miles from our hotel in Fowey, are lily, citrus from the orange tree, the popular rose and pelargonium.
The Perfume Garden also has stories behind the featured plants and their scents, such as the caraway and the Spanish broom which has been a popular perfume plant since the time of Ancient Greeks and Romans.
It is not just the stunning Perfume Garden which should draw you from Fowey to the Project, as there is the Rainforest Biome, outdoor gardens, a canopy walkway, the longest zip wire in England, as well as a delicious café and juice bar to refresh you on your day out.
