Trematon Castle Gardens
The Mott and Bailey Castle, dating back to 1350 has astonishing views of the Tamar Estuary. The golden and crimson colours of autumn make Trematon a wonderful place to visit at this time of year, with a carpet of leaves surrounding the ancient castle. You can also take a walk through the woodland and maybe spot some of the autumn animals busy preparing for the winter months.
Pencarrow House and Gardens
Open until the end of October, the formal gardens at Pencarrow are still fantastic to visit in the Autumn, as the trees turn yellow and orange. There is still spots of colour with hydrangeas, fuchsias and azaleas flowering in the early autumn months. Make time to visit the Iron Age hill fort and the Italian Garden with the quatrefoil fountain and ice house.
The thirty acres of National Trust garden is open till late October. Surrounding the impressive Victorian country house are beautiful all year around. If you fancy a gentle stroll in the afternoon, talking in the fresh outdoors, there are paths and trails through the estate, ranging from half hour walks to two hours.
Pentillie Castle Garden
This grade II listed country house and estate has been called a national treasure and hidden gem by many who visit it. A short drive from our hotel in Golant, Cornwall, the Castle and Garden has been renovated since 2009, and turned the 55-acre woodland garden into a haven for nature enthusiasts and walkers. There are views of the River Tamar and every year new plants springing up.
