The Cormorant Hotel’s award-winning two-rosette restaurant is one of the best Fowey restaurants, and with stunning views of the River Fowey and delicious Cornish produce to choose from, it is a fantastic choice when looking to dine out in Cornwall.

Head Chef Dane Watkins takes pride in the outstanding food served to guests throughout the year, and with the extensive wine list, you will find there is plenty of choice and something for every taste. The restaurant offers a casual lunch, light dinner or fine dining, and Afternoon Tea is served every day. We have an à la carte menu featuring an array of dishes, using locally sourced produce, from the fish and meat to cheese and vegetables. Take a look below at some of the items on the menu, which change seasonally to make the most of what foods are available throughout the year.

Example Starters

Crayfish and scallop cannelloni served with concasse tomato, compressed cucumber, rocket, tomato gel and tarragon vinaigrette.

Fowey River mussels served with white wine, garlic, shallots and cream.

Charcuterie, a selection of cured meats, pickled baby vegetables and chefs bread.

Set parmesan custard and blue cheese soufflé with baked brie and goats cheese mousse with walnut crumb, celeriac puree, rocket and grapes.

A main dish at The Cormorant Restaurant

A trio of Cornish fish served with a fricassee of butternut squash, little gem lettuce and pancetta. Other fish dishes include pan-fried pollock or sea bream and The Cormorant’s own fish and chips.  

Pork assiette, a pork loin, confit pork belly and black pudding served with Parmentier potatoes, roasted vegetables and crushed peas.

Ribeye steak served with hand cut chips, baked tomato and mushroom with a choice of peppercorn, mustard or tarragon butter.

Roasted butternut squash filled with fricassee of beetroot, spring onion, walnut and butternut squash topped with a herb crust.


A selection of seasonal vegetable, hand cut chips or a mixed salad.

Orange crème brulee at The Cormorant

Mango and passionfruit semifreddo; a passionfruit sorbet, mango and mint compote and mango meringues.

Orange crème Brulee; an orange compote, mandarin sorbet and blood orange puree.

Apple and rhubarb crumble served with Cornish clotted cream.

Chocolate and espresso tart with salted caramel ice cream, candied hazelnuts and coffee syrup.

Chefs homemade ice cream and sorbet, choice of clotted cream, tonka bean, crème Fraiche or rum and raisin ice cream and raspberry, plum, champagne and cherry sorbet.

West Country cheeseboard of a selection of Cornwall’s finest cheeses such as St Endellion brie, Quickes Cornish cheddar, Helford white and Cornish blue. Served with homemade biscotti, saltwater biscuits and oatcakes, celery and grapes.
