Cornwall expects 3.8 million visitors this summer

After the first weekend of the Great British summer passes, it has been announced that Cornwall can expect 3.8 million visitors to the region this summer.
The figures, as estimated by the South West Research Company, predicts that 1.2 million UK visitors will make the trip to the South West, and more than 79,000 will visit from overseas. On top of this, an additional 2.5 million people are expected to visit on day trips.
This influx of visitors is expected to bring a massive £528 million to the region, and further boost the profile of Cornwall as a tourist destination.
Cornwall is changing into a year round holiday destination, with attractions and great food to keep everyone entertained no matter the season. However, the summer months are still extremely important, and account for nearly a third of the industry.
A number of businesses are reporting increased interest, with 71 per cent stating that their booking levels are the same or better than this time last year, which reiterates the popularity of Cornwall.
