Cornwall is wonderful all through the year, and there is always something happening whichever time you decide to visit the South West. If you are looking for a winter break, book a stay at our Fowey hotel, and take delight in the many reasons why Cornwall is the best place to visit in winter.

Christmas markets and lights

From November, leading all the way up to Christmas, several towns across Cornwall host their annual Christmas markets, including the Fowey Christmas Market, and the Macmillan Christmas Fair at the Eden project. They are the perfect hunting ground for finding unique and wonderful presents for your loved ones. Along with the fantastic markets, Cornish towns and villages are lit up each night with colourful and magical Christmas lights.

Hot chocolate

Each winter across Cornwall there seems to be an unspoken competition among various cafes for the best hot chocolate. After a windy walk on the beach or along a clifftop, a mug of hot chocolate is heaven. You can choose your favourite of the top cafes selling hot chocolate topped with cream, marshmallows and sprinkles, in a wide variety of flavours.

Parking is cheaper

With quieter beaches, you are more likely to get a good parking spot if you take a winter break in the coming months, and many coastal spots are free during the winter too. And although other car parks aren't free, they are a lot cheaper and you won't have to dig out all the spare change for numerous car park tickets during your winter break.

Empty beaches

Cornwall's many beaches are pretty much empty during the winter season, except for some surfers braving the winter waves and walkers. Head to the beaches, layered up in winter woolly jumpers to see the stunning Cornish coastline undisturbed by the hundreds of visitors seen during the summer.

Ice skating

The Eden Project has once again opened its ice rink until February 19. You can enjoy a mixture of the tropics walking through the biomes, followed with a magical session ice skating. Sessions run daily, beginning at 12pm every hour until 5pm. When staying at our Fowey hotel, it is best to book in advance for an ice skating session to avoid disappointment.

Pint of beer or glass of wine next to the fire

After a day out wrapped up walking the Cornish countryside, a delicious gourmet dinner at our award-winning restaurant and a pint or glass of wine next to the fire is a perfect way to end your day! So, don't hesitate, and book your winter break at our Fowey hotel now!
