Big music names heading to Cornwall this summer
Written by The Cormorant Hotel
As the festival season starts, some of the biggest names in music are heading to Cornwall, as part of festival line ups, tours or special appearances. Some of the best musicians to see will be at the Eden Project which is close to our hotel near Fowey.
Some of the big names who will be performing at the Eden Sessions across the coming summer months include Sir Tom Jones, Lionel Richie and the Manic Street Preachers.
The Eden Sessions, a series of live music festivals have the spectacular setting of the Eden Project biomes as a backdrop to the performances. The beautiful site has natural acoustics that brings world class musicians to the venue year after year.
The tickets to these music events also includes entry to the Project on the day of the session, and the day after, so you can not only enjoy the music performance, but also explore the wonderful exotic gardens and plants at the Project.
The line-up for 2016 starts with the BBC Music Day featuring Duran Duran on June 3, and then the Sessions get started with Lionel Richie and Corinne Bailey Rae on June 14 and 15 respectively. Later, on June 26, Sir Tom Jones will be returning to perform in Cornwall, for the first time since 1983.
The following day, June 27, will see PJ Harvey return to the biomes after her first gig there in 2003, and the artist is also due to release her ninth studio album this year.
As we head into July, the Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers will be playing at the Eden Sessions for the first time, and only the second time performing in Cornwall. You can look forward to hearing a number of songs from their 12 album back catalogue.
Another artist to appear is Jess Glynne. The singer will be appearing at two different sessions in the next two months, on June 22 and July 14. Be sure to grab tickets to see your favourite artists before they are all sold out!
