Fowey awash with flowers

The streets of Fowey have been blooming this week after a series of "bouquet bombings" took place in the town. The town of Fowey, just a few miles from our Fowey accommodation in Golant, has been decked out in flowers this week by a guerrilla flower arranger determined to make people smile.

Dolphins spotted in Golant

The Cormorant Hotel's rosette winning restaurant has had a visit from some unexpected guests - a pod of dolphins. While that may be a bit of an exaggeration, as the dolphins didn't actually manage to make it all the way out of the water and up the hill to the Cormorant's doors. But they did pay a visit to Golant this weekend, where they surprised a group of kayakers.

Fowey mussel Fest has drawn to a close for another year, after another hugely successful weekend of cooking demonstrations, live music and general merriment! We've really enjoyed the Fest this weekend, and it's inspired us to take a look at some creative recipes for cooking mussels.

Fowey Mussel Fest gets under way today and is set to run all weekend. The festival starts this evening with live music from Opium on Fowey Quay before the festival gets into full swing tomorrow morning.

The sunny weather which has caused a heat wave in Cornwall this weekend looks set to be here to stay. The sun is set to stay as the summer continues its good start. 

Lonely Planet name Cornwall third best place to visit in Europe

Cornwall has been named in the top three places to visit in Europe this summer by one of the world's biggest tourist industry experts. Lonely Planet has placed Cornwall third on its latest list of the top ten best must-see locations. Lonely Planet has rated the county's rich moorland, rugged coastline and miles of sandy beaches so highly it has put Cornwall above established holiday hot spots like Greece and Italy.

Meet Head Chef Dane Watkins

Here at the Cormorant we pride ourselves on providing memorable holidays, and part of the way we do that is with our fantastic food. We wouldn't be able to do that without our talented head chef Dane Watkins. Dane, 28, has been Head Chef at The Cormorant hotel in Fowey for 18 months,  after returning to the Hotel for a second time, after being our number 2 Chef during his previous spell here, and has been doing a fantastic job of running our kitchen.

One of the biggest events of the year in Fowey is nearly upon us and here at The Cormorant we're busy getting ready. Just a short distance from our beautiful location in Golant is Fowey,  home to a spectacular annual mussel festival. Each year guests at the Hotel visit the festival and come back with tales of the shellfish they've tried and cooking demonstrations they've seen.

New summer menu unveiled at The Cormorant

With the sun shining this week a new summer menu has been unveiled at The Cormorant Hotel and Restaurant. Classically trained Head Chef Dane Watkins has put together the a la Carte Menu, which showcases the best of local produce cooked in traditional fashion.
