Local outdoor activities
If you enjoy the great outdoors, Cornwall can offer everything from a gentle stroll to an exhilarating hike, enjoy the windswept beauty of Bodmin moor or the dramatic coastal path. The wooded creeks of south east Cornwall are rich in wildlife and canoeing or sailing is an ideal way to explore and observe the secluded Fowey river network.
Explore a multitude of glorious walks, short or long, gentle or strenuous, along the estuary, the coastal paths of Cornwall, or across Bodmin moor. The Saints Way footpath which crosses Cornwall from the South Coast to North Coast, can be accessed at our back garden gate, or you can just use it to walk into Fowey.
Enjoy a wealth of bird life on the river estuary from every window in the Hotel or expore the many wonderful coast walks.
Join us at The Cormorant Hotel and recieve concessions on green fees at Lostwithel Golf & Country Club and St Austel Golf Club. Both are within an easy drive of the Hotel and there are many other courses within the local area.
Sailing and Boat trips
Fowey Sailing Regatta and Carnival is held every August. Various types of craft can be hired at Fowey, if you have a yen to get out on the water. Several boat trips are on offer from Fowey harbour, around the coast, or up the river to the beautiful Lerryn Creek (affording a great view of your hotel on the way).
The Fowey to Mevagissey Ferry runs from late April until October, and offers an alternative and enjoyable journey across the water. Dolphins and basking sharks are often spotted en route! For further details visit www.mevagissey-ferries.co.uk
